Invisalign Can Do Many Things For Your Smile

Traditional braces are still used by many dentists and orthodontists. We even use them in our practice.

Yet, we also know that many people — adults and teenagers alike — are not comfortable wearing braces. Invisalign eliminates the brackets and wires to create great smiles with plastic aligners instead.

The only way to know for sure if you are a good candidate for Invisalign is to meet with a dentist like Dr. DiBona, who has certification to use this treatment and has successfully fixed many smiles as well.

Before you start any orthodontic treatment, you owe it to yourself to talk to Dr. DiBona. Any orthodontic treatment is going to take time. Before you commit yourself to the time and expense involved, you should be confident that what you are going to do will work.

With that in mind, Invisalign can be used to fix a wide range of issues, such as:

◼︎ Overbites and underbites

◼︎ Open bites

◼︎ Crossbites

◼︎ Gaps between teeth

◼︎ Crowded teeth

◼︎ Crooked teeth

Traditional braces fix these problems with brackets and wires. Together, they can push and pull teeth into the right positions.

Invisalign uses a series of aligners to push your teeth where you want them to be. Every set of aligners is custom-made for an individual patient. By wearing them as directed, you could create the smile you dream of seeing in your reflection.

Dr. DiBona has seen how well Invisalign works for patients with mild and moderate alignment issues. Make an appointment today if you would like to find out if it can improve your smile, too.

Invisalign’s Advantages

If no one minded wearing braces, Invisalign may have never been developed.

The reality is that braces have some issues of their own. They can hurt, for starters. You can’t take them off during the two years or so that you will wear them. Plus, you may have to give up some of your favorite foods until your treatment is over.

With Invisalign, your treatment can be more comfortable. You can continue eating the foods that you want to eat. As an added bonus Invisalign is more discreet than traditional braces, which may help you feel more comfortable wearing them to work, to school, or in social situations.

Each Invisalign aligner is made of a piece of smooth plastic. You may feel some gentle pressure in the first day or two of wearing a new aligner, but it’s easier to handle than the adjustments that are made to tighten braces.

Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners do not have to be worn 24 hours a day. You should wear your aligners for at least 22 hours daily to get the maximum benefits from Invisalign. That means you have up to two hours (total) each day when you can remove your aligners to eat and to brush and floss your teeth. With braces, you have to worry about hard and chewy foods getting stuck in your braces, or worse breaking your brackets and wires.

Last, but not least, Invisalign aligners are made of clear plastic. That makes them transparent and virtually unnoticeable when they are placed over your teeth.

This is important because we have learned that this is the reason many people are hesitant to get braces. For people who are more self-conscious, drawing attention to their teeth is not something they want.

With Invisalign and the support of Dr. DiBona, you may be able to straighten your teeth without the inconveniences that are part of wearing braces.
